As per the 2010 Federal Census, Maryland is considered to be the 19th most populous and the 5th most densely populated of the 50 United States. In 2010, the population of MD was 5,773,552(approx), which was an increase of 9.0% from the Twenty-second (2000) US Census.
Maryland Federal census was first conducted in 1790 and it has been taken every ten years, thereafter. The 1890 Federal Census Data were burned by the 1921 warehouse fire, however the Veterans and Widows schedules survived the fire. Currently available census is 1940 enumeration, which released on April 2, 2012.
